There are actually a ton of things that noone tells you about parenting or step parenting and the above is one of them. The look of betrayal on my kid's face when he pulled out the unraveled crazy straw from the dishwasher made me feel supremely guilty until I took advantage of his short attention span and moved his attention to something else. I even tried to bend it back together, but no dice.
